Grower/processors play a vital role in the safe use and distribution of approved forms of medical marijuana to patients and caregivers in Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Program.
State-approved forms of medical marijuana include forms medically appropriate for vaporization or nebulization, pills, topical forms (gels, creams, and ointments), tinctures, liquids, and oils. Dried leaves, plant material, and edibles are currently prohibited.
After cannabis plants are harvested by grower/processors, they are put through rigorous testing by a state-approved laboratory. Laboratories also collect samples of processed forms of medical marijuana and test to ensure adherence to their respective chemical labeling and to ensure all product is free of contaminants.
